Breakeven
a.k.a. Break-even
The price where a trade neither makes nor loses money once costs are counted.
In plain English
The price where a trade neither makes nor loses money once costs are counted.
Your breakeven is the zero line. On a simple trade it is your entry price, plus whatever spread, commission and swap you have paid.
Traders often move their stop-loss to breakeven once a trade is well in profit, so the worst case becomes a scratch instead of a loss. Move it too early, though, and normal market wiggles will knock you out of good trades.
Don’t be that stickman
Forgetting the spread and fees, so 'breakeven' actually closes at a small loss.
