Chaikin Oscillator
An indicator by Marc Chaikin that measures momentum in buying and selling pressure using price and volume.
In plain English
An indicator by Marc Chaikin that measures momentum in buying and selling pressure using price and volume.
The Chaikin oscillator is built from the accumulation/distribution line, which weighs each day's volume by where price closed in its range. It then subtracts a slow average of that line from a fast one.
Rising above zero suggests money is flowing in; falling below suggests it is flowing out. It needs reliable volume data, which spot forex lacks, so it is mostly used on stocks and futures.
