Council of the European Union

a.k.a. Council of Ministers, EU Council

The EU body where ministers from each member country meet to pass laws and coordinate policy.
In plain English

The EU body where ministers from each member country meet to pass laws and coordinate policy.

The Council of the European Union brings together government ministers from every member state, with the line-up changing by topic: finance ministers for economic matters, farm ministers for agriculture and so on. Together with the European Parliament it approves EU laws.

Do not mix it up with the European Council (the heads of government) or the Council of Europe (a separate human-rights body).
