For years Cuba ran two currencies side by side, the peso (CUP) and the convertible peso (CUC). In 2021 the CUC was scrapped and the Cuban peso became the sole official currency.
Shortages and inflation since then have opened a wide gap between official and informal rates. It is not tradable on international markets.
