Open Position
a.k.a. Live trade
A trade that has been entered and not yet closed, so it's still gaining or losing as price moves.
In plain English
A trade that has been entered and not yet closed, so it's still gaining or losing as price moves.
An open position is a live trade. You bought, the order filled, and now your money is riding the market. Every tick changes your unrealized profit or loss. Only when you close it, with an offsetting trade, does the result become real.
Holding it past the daily cutoff turns it into an overnight position, which usually means paying or earning a swap.
