Rate of Change

a.k.a. ROC

A momentum indicator that shows how much price has changed, in percentage terms, over a set number of periods.
In plain English

A momentum indicator that shows how much price has changed, in percentage terms, over a set number of periods.

Rate of change (ROC) compares today's price with the price a set number of candles ago and shows the difference as a percentage. If price is 2% higher than it was 14 days ago, ROC reads +2.

It swings above and below zero. Rising readings mean momentum is speeding up; readings shrinking toward zero mean the move is losing speed. Like other momentum tools, it is often used to spot divergence with price.
