Revaluation

An official decision to raise the value of a fixed or pegged currency against others.
In plain English

An official decision to raise the value of a fixed or pegged currency against others.

A revaluation is a government or central bank deliberately making its currency stronger, by moving a peg or fixed rate to a new level where each unit buys more foreign money. It is the opposite of a devaluation.

It only applies to managed currencies; a free-floating currency just appreciates on its own. Revaluations are rare and usually happen under pressure, for example when trade partners complain a currency has been kept artificially cheap.
