In plain English

"There is no alternative": the idea that investors pile into stocks because other options, like bonds or cash, pay almost nothing.

TINA stands for "there is no alternative". It became a market catchphrase in the 2010s, when interest rates were near zero: cash and bonds paid next to nothing, so investors felt they had no choice but to buy stocks, even pricey ones.

When rates climbed sharply in 2022–2023 and safe bonds paid decent yields again, commentators declared TINA dead. The idea is a reminder that interest rates shape the appeal of every other asset.
