Transaction Date
a.k.a. Trade date
The day a trade is agreed and executed, which may differ from when it settles.
In plain English
The day a trade is agreed and executed, which may differ from when it settles.
The transaction date, or trade date, is when you and the other side agree on the deal. It is not necessarily when money moves. For spot forex, settlement usually follows two business days later, on the value date.
The distinction matters for accounting, interest calculations and tax: you are exposed to price moves from the transaction date, even if cash changes hands later.
