Volume
a.k.a. Trading Volume, Trade volume
How much of something was traded over a period: the number of shares, contracts or currency units that changed hands.
Volume measures activity. High volume means lots of buying and selling; low volume means a quiet market. Traders use it to judge conviction: a breakout on heavy volume is generally taken more seriously than one on a trickle.
Spot forex has no central exchange, so there is no true total volume figure. Platforms often show "tick volume" instead, the number of price updates, which usually rises and falls with real activity. Futures markets do publish real volume.
