Slang for 'buy the dip': buying after a price drop on the belief it will bounce back.
In plain English
Slang for 'buy the dip': buying after a price drop on the belief it will bounce back.
BTFD (the F is exactly what you think) and its politer cousin BTD mean 'buy the dip'. It became a rallying cry during long bull markets, when every drop seemed to be bought.
It works until it doesn't. In a real downtrend, each dip is just a step down to the next one. Catching a falling price without a plan is often called catching a falling knife.
