Bubble

a.k.a. Speculative bubble, Mania

Prices inflate on hype until there's nobody left to blow. Then: pop.
In plain English

When an asset's price balloons far above any sensible value because people buy simply expecting it to keep rising.

A bubble forms when buyers stop asking "what is this worth?" and only ask "will it go higher?" Rising prices pull in new buyers, which pushes prices higher still, which pulls in more. Stories spread about neighbours getting rich. The herd stampedes in.

It ends when the supply of new buyers runs dry. Prices stall, early holders head for the exit, and the slide becomes a crash. Crypto has had several bubbles where many coins lost 80% or more from the peak. The catch: bubbles are easy to name afterwards and very hard to time while you're inside one.

Don’t be that stickman

Buying near the top because everyone around you is talking about it. When your taxi driver is giving coin tips, the crowd is already all in.
