Bullish Engulfing Pattern
a.k.a. Bullish engulfing
A two-candle bottom pattern where a big up candle completely swallows the body of the previous down candle.
In plain English
A two-candle bottom pattern where a big up candle completely swallows the body of the previous down candle.
A bullish engulfing pattern shows up after a fall. First a small down candle. Then a bigger up candle whose body opens at or below the first one's close and closes above its open, swallowing it.
The story: sellers were in charge, then buyers overwhelmed them in one session. It hints at a possible reversal, especially at support. See also bearish engulfing.
