Burn

a.k.a. Token burn, Coin burn, Burning

Permanently destroying coins or tokens by sending them to an address nobody can ever spend from.
In plain English

Permanently destroying coins or tokens by sending them to an address nobody can ever spend from.

To burn crypto is to throw it into a furnace. The coins are sent to a "burn address" whose key nobody has, so they can never move again. They still sit on the blockchain, but they're gone from the usable supply forever.

Projects burn tokens to shrink circulating supply, sometimes on a schedule, like BNB, and Ethereum burns part of every transaction fee automatically. A smaller supply can help a price only if demand holds up; a burn by itself doesn't make anyone want the coin.

Don’t be that stickman

Treating a burn announcement as a reason to buy. Burning a tiny slice of a huge supply changes almost nothing.
