Commitments of Traders Report

A weekly CFTC report showing how different groups of traders are positioned in US futures markets, including currency futures.
Every Friday, the US CFTC publishes the Commitments of Traders report, showing positions as of the previous Tuesday. It splits traders into groups, such as commercial hedgers and speculators, and shows how long or short each group is.
Forex traders use the currency futures numbers as a rough map of speculative sentiment. When speculators are piled heavily on one side, some read it as a crowded trade that could snap back. The data is already a few days old when it comes out.
