Direct Quotation

a.k.a. Direct quote

An exchange rate shown as how much home currency it takes to buy one unit of a foreign currency.
In plain English

An exchange rate shown as how much home currency it takes to buy one unit of a foreign currency.

A direct quote prices the foreign currency in your own money. For someone in the US, EUR/USD = 1.08 is direct: one euro costs 1.08 dollars.

An indirect quote does the reverse: how much foreign currency one unit of home currency buys. Which is 'direct' depends on where you stand.
