Directional Movement Index
a.k.a. DMI, +DI and −DI
Two lines, +DI and −DI, that show whether buyers or sellers have been pushing harder, built by Welles Wilder.
In plain English
Two lines, +DI and −DI, that show whether buyers or sellers have been pushing harder, built by Welles Wilder.
The Directional Movement Index compares today's high and low with yesterday's. When highs push higher more than lows push lower, +DI rises; the reverse lifts −DI.
+DI above −DI suggests buyers are in control. The ADX is built from these two lines to measure trend strength.
