Disinflation
A slowdown in the rate of inflation: prices are still rising, just more slowly than before.
In plain English
A slowdown in the rate of inflation: prices are still rising, just more slowly than before.
Disinflation is not falling prices. If inflation drops from 6% to 3%, prices are still climbing, only at half the speed. Falling prices would be deflation.
It is usually what central banks want after a burst of inflation. Getting it without a recession is the dream of immaculate disinflation.
