In plain English
Short for financial technology: companies and software that use tech to deliver money services in new ways.
Fintech is any business using software to change how money works: mobile banks, payment apps, buy-now-pay-later, robo-advisers, trading apps. If you've split a bill on your phone, you've used fintech.
Crypto is a branch of it, and the most radical one, since it tries to remove the bank from the picture altogether. Many fintech apps now let you buy crypto alongside your ordinary money, usually holding it for you in a custodial account.
