Market order
a.k.a. Instant execution
Kicking the door down. You are in now, at whatever price is standing behind it.
In plain English
An order to buy or sell immediately at the best price available right now.
A market order says "fill me now". Buy and you get the current ask; sell and you get the current bid.
You trade speed for price certainty. In calm markets the fill is basically what you saw. In fast markets, the price can shift between your click and the fill: that is slippage.
Don’t be that stickman
Hitting a market order right as major news drops, then being shocked by the price you actually got.
