Morning Star
A three-candle pattern at the bottom of a fall that hints sellers are exhausted and buyers are taking over.
In plain English
A three-candle pattern at the bottom of a fall that hints sellers are exhausted and buyers are taking over.
A morning star is a candlestick pattern that shows up after a decline. First comes a big red candle: sellers in full control. Then a small candle with a tiny body, often a doji: the selling stalls and nobody wins the day. Then a strong green candle that closes well into the first candle's body: buyers storm back.
Like the planet Venus appearing before sunrise, it is a sign that dawn may be coming for the bulls. Its bearish twin, the evening star, appears at tops.
