A momentum indicator based on the idea that prices tend to close higher than they open in uptrends, and lower in downtrends.
The Relative Vigor Index (RVI) measures conviction inside each candle. In a healthy uptrend, candles usually close above where they opened; in a downtrend, below. The RVI compares the close-minus-open distance with the full high-to-low range, smooths it, and pairs it with a signal line.
Traders look for crossovers between the RVI and its signal line, and for divergence with price. It works better as a confirmation tool than on its own.
