Silver
a.k.a. XAG, XAG/USD
A precious metal traded both as a safe-haven store of value and as an industrial raw material.
In plain English
A precious metal traded both as a safe-haven store of value and as an industrial raw material.
Silver leads a double life. Like gold, it is bought as a store of value when people fear inflation or crisis. Unlike gold, a big share of demand comes from industry: electronics, solar panels, medical uses. Traders quote it as XAG/USD, dollars per ounce.
That split personality makes silver more volatile than gold, often swinging further in both directions. It earned the nickname "the devil's metal" from traders burnt by its sudden spikes and crashes.
