Triple Moving Average Crossover

a.k.a. Three moving average crossover

A trend system using three moving averages of different lengths, taking signals when they line up in order.
In plain English

A trend system using three moving averages of different lengths, taking signals when they line up in order.

The triple moving average crossover uses a fast, a medium and a slow moving average, for example 5, 20 and 50 periods. A buy signal comes when the fast crosses above the medium while both are above the slow, with all three stacked in order and pointing up. Sell signals are the reverse.

The third average acts as a filter, cutting down the false signals a simple two-line crossover gives in sideways markets. The cost: you get into trends a bit later.
