In plain English
The currency of the United Arab Emirates, pegged to the US dollar.
The UAE dirham (AED) is the money of the United Arab Emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It has been pegged to the US dollar at about 3.67 dirhams per dollar for decades, backed by oil wealth and large reserves. Like other Gulf pegs, it means the UAE effectively imports US interest-rate policy.
