Working Order
a.k.a. Working
An order that is live in the market and waiting to be filled, or being filled bit by bit.
In plain English
An order that is live in the market and waiting to be filled, or being filled bit by bit.
A working order is one that is "working" on your behalf: placed, live and waiting for price to reach it, like a limit order below the market. It is basically an open order.
On dealing desks, the phrase also describes a big client order a dealer is gradually filling over time, for example "we're working a 200-million EUR/USD buy order for a client".
