Aroon Up/Down
a.k.a. Aroon indicator
Two lines that measure how many bars ago the latest high and latest low happened, to judge whether a trend is starting or fading.
The Aroon indicator, created by Tushar Chande, draws two lines from 0 to 100. Aroon Up is high when the highest high of the lookback period happened very recently; Aroon Down is high when the lowest low did. The name comes from a Sanskrit word for the light of dawn.
When Aroon Up stays near the top and Aroon Down near the bottom, buyers keep setting new highs: an uptrend. When the lines cross, the balance may be shifting. Like most indicators, it describes the past few bars rather than predicting the next.
