Binance is a crypto exchange founded in 2017 by Changpeng Zhao (CZ). It grew at breakneck speed and became one of the biggest places on earth to trade coins, offering spot trading, derivatives, staking and its own blockchain, BNB Chain, with BNB as its token.
Its size came with heat from regulators. In 2023 Binance agreed to pay billions of dollars to settle US charges, including failures in its anti-money-laundering controls, and CZ stepped down as chief executive. Which Binance services you can use depends on where you live.
