Caixin Manufacturing PMI
a.k.a. Caixin PMI
A monthly survey of purchasing managers at Chinese factories, with a heavier tilt toward smaller private firms than the official survey.
The Caixin Manufacturing PMI asks factory purchasing managers in China whether orders, output and hiring are rising or falling. Above 50 means expansion; below 50 means contraction. It is now compiled with S&P Global.
China has an official PMI too, but Caixin's sample leans toward smaller and private companies, so the two can disagree. China's factories buy a lot of raw materials, so the numbers can move the Australian and New Zealand dollars.
