Chinese Yuan (CNY)
a.k.a. Renminbi, RMB, CNY, CNH
China's currency, code CNY.
In plain English
China's currency, code CNY. 'Renminbi' is the currency's name; 'yuan' is its unit.
Renminbi ('the people's money') is the name of China's currency, and the yuan is its unit, the same way 'sterling' and 'pound' work in the UK. Prices are quoted in yuan.
The yuan is managed: each morning the People's Bank of China sets a reference rate, and onshore trading (CNY) is kept within a band around it. Offshore, mostly in Hong Kong, a freer version trades as CNH. Moves in the yuan can ripple through Asian currencies and the Australian dollar.
