The DAX is Germany's headline share index. It expanded from 30 to 40 companies in 2021. Car makers, chemicals, industrials and software firms carry a lot of weight.
Because Germany is the eurozone's biggest economy, the DAX is a common read on European risk appetite, and a hugely popular index to trade as a CFD.
