De-Dollarization

a.k.a. Dedollarisation

Efforts by countries to rely less on the US dollar for trade, reserves and borrowing.
In plain English

Efforts by countries to rely less on the US dollar for trade, reserves and borrowing.

De-dollarization describes moves to cut dependence on the dollar: settling trade in local currencies, buying more gold for reserves, or building alternative payment systems. It gets louder whenever US sanctions or politics make the dollar feel like a weapon.

So far the shift has been slow. The dollar still dominates foreign-exchange trading, global reserves and trade invoicing.
