In plain English
A benchmark interest rate showing what eurozone banks pay to borrow unsecured euros from each other for set periods.
Euribor is published daily for several maturities, from one week to twelve months. Loans, mortgages and derivatives across Europe are priced off it.
Unlike LIBOR, it survived the post-scandal clean-up after being reformed to lean more on real transactions. The euro short-term rate (€STR) now serves as the main overnight benchmark.
