The veteran trading platform that most retail forex brokers have offered for nearly two decades.
MetaTrader 4, or MT4, is software made by MetaQuotes and released in 2005. It shows live charts, lets you place and manage trades, and runs custom indicators and trading robots called expert advisors, written in a language called MQL4. If you have opened a forex demo account, there is a good chance it was on MT4.
It looks dated, but traders cling to it because of the mountain of free indicators, scripts and tutorials built around it. Its successor is MetaTrader 5.
