Resistance
a.k.a. Resistance level
The ceiling the price keeps banging its head on, until it punches straight through.
In plain English
A price level where rising prices tend to stall and turn back, because sellers keep showing up there.
Resistance is the mirror image of support: a level where rallies run out of steam. Sellers take profits or open new shorts there.
When price finally bursts through resistance, that ceiling often becomes the new floor. Breakout traders wait just above it with stop orders.
Don’t be that stickman
Drawing a line on every little wiggle. Strong resistance is a level price has reacted to clearly, more than once.
