Technical analysis

a.k.a. Charting, TA

Reading footprints in the snow to guess where the herd is running next.
In plain English

Studying price charts and patterns to judge where a market might go next, based on how it has moved before.

Technical analysis assumes the chart already contains the crowd's fear and greed. Traders look at trends, support and resistance, candlestick patterns and indicators to find likely turning points.

It is about odds, not certainties. Patterns fail all the time, which is why technical traders lean heavily on the stop-loss.

Don’t be that stickman

Stacking ten indicators on a chart until it looks like a bowl of spaghetti and says nothing clearly.
