A shitcoin is a coin the speaker thinks is worthless: no real use, no real team, nothing behind it but marketing. Some are jokes, some are copies of copies, some are outright rug pulls waiting to happen.
The word is also tribal. Hard-line Bitcoin fans call nearly every altcoin a shitcoin. Either way, the danger is real: thousands of such coins have gone to zero, and many end up as dead coins.
