The Winklevoss twins, Cameron and Tyler, first became famous for their legal fight with Mark Zuckerberg over the origins of Facebook, and as Olympic rowers. They used part of that settlement to buy bitcoin early, around 2012–2013, when most people had never heard of it.
In 2014 they founded Gemini, a US exchange that leaned on regulation as its selling point. They've been prominent public backers of Bitcoin ever since.
