Brian Armstrong co-founded Coinbase in 2012, after earlier work as an engineer at Airbnb. He pitched it as an easy, regulated way for ordinary people to buy bitcoin with a bank account.
He led Coinbase to a listing on the Nasdaq stock exchange in 2021, a milestone that put a crypto company in front of mainstream investors, and has been a prominent voice in arguments with US regulators over how crypto should be policed.
