DYOR

a.k.a. Do your own research

Short for 'do your own research': a reminder to check things yourself instead of trusting tips from strangers.
In plain English

Short for 'do your own research': a reminder to check things yourself instead of trusting tips from strangers.

DYOR, "do your own research", is tacked onto the end of countless crypto posts. At its best it's honest advice: read the whitepaper, check who built it, look at the supply and who holds it, and work out what could go wrong.

At its worst it's a legal fig leaf. Someone hypes a coin to the moon, then adds "DYOR" so they can say it wasn't advice. Real research means looking for reasons not to buy, not just collecting reasons to.

Don’t be that stickman

Calling it research when all you did was watch videos from people who already own the coin.
