Financial Conduct Authority

a.k.a. FCA

The UK's financial regulator, which authorises and supervises brokers and other financial firms.
In plain English

The UK's financial regulator, which authorises and supervises brokers and other financial firms.

The Financial Conduct Authority sets rules for how firms in the UK treat customers and markets. It took over from the Financial Services Authority in 2013.

You can check whether a broker is authorised on the FCA's public register. It also publishes warnings about unauthorised firms and clone scams that pretend to be legitimate ones.
