Full Node

A computer that downloads and checks every block and transaction against a blockchain's rules for itself.
In plain English

A computer that downloads and checks every block and transaction against a blockchain's rules for itself.

A full node is a node that trusts nobody. It downloads the blockchain and independently checks every block and transaction against the rules. If something breaks the rules, a full node rejects it, no matter who sent it.

Thousands of them spread around the world are what keep a network honest. Anyone can run one on a decent home computer for many chains, and doing so means you can verify your own payments without relying on someone else's word. Lighter wallets skip this work and trust full nodes instead.
