In plain English
Extremely fast, out-of-control inflation, often defined as prices rising more than 50% in a month.
Hyperinflation is money dissolving in your hand. Prices double in days or weeks, savings are wiped out and people rush to spend wages before they lose value. Germany in 1923, Zimbabwe in the late 2000s and Venezuela in the late 2010s are infamous cases.
It usually follows a government printing money to cover spending it cannot finance any other way. People abandon the local currency for dollars, gold or anything that holds value.
