Malagasy Ariary
a.k.a. MGA, Madagascar Ariary
The currency of Madagascar, and one of the few in the world not split into 100 smaller units.
In plain English
The currency of Madagascar, and one of the few in the world not split into 100 smaller units.
The Malagasy ariary (MGA) is Madagascar's money. Fun fact for your next quiz night: one ariary is divided into five iraimbilanja, not 100 cents, making it one of the very few non-decimal currencies left. The smaller unit is so tiny in value that nobody really uses it.
It floats against other currencies but trades thinly, so it is firmly in exotic territory.
