Multiple Time Frame Analysis

In plain English

Checking the same market on a longer and a shorter chart timeframe before you trade, so you see the big picture and the detail.

Multiple time frame analysis means zooming out before you zoom in. You might check the daily chart to find the main trend, the 4-hour chart to find a good area to trade, and the 1-hour chart to time the entry. It is like checking the weather forecast for the week before deciding when to step outside today.

The classic payoff: you stop buying a tiny 15-minute uptrend that is really just a brief bounce inside a crushing daily downtrend. When the timeframes agree, traders tend to feel more confident; when they disagree, it is a reason for caution.

Don’t be that stickman

Flicking through timeframes until one of them agrees with the trade you already wanted to take.
