The NFIB Small Business Jobs Report comes from the National Federation of Independent Business, which polls its members about whether they hired, plan to hire, or have jobs they cannot fill. Small firms employ a huge share of American workers, so their hiring mood is a useful early hint ahead of the official non-farm payrolls. It rarely moves markets on its own.
