Norwegian Krone

a.k.a. NOK, Nokkie

Norway's currency, closely tied to the price of oil.
In plain English

Norway's currency, closely tied to the price of oil.

The Norwegian krone (NOK) is Norway's money. Norway is one of Europe's biggest oil and gas producers, so the krone is a petrocurrency: it tends to strengthen when crude prices rise and weaken when they fall.

It is usually traded as EUR/NOK or USD/NOK, pairs that are less liquid than the majors. That means wider spreads and sharper moves when markets get jumpy.
