Position
a.k.a. Trade
Your stake in a market: what you've bought or sold and haven't yet closed.
In plain English
Your stake in a market: what you've bought or sold and haven't yet closed.
A position is your current bet. If you bought EUR/USD, you have a long position. If you sold it, a short position. Its size, measured in lots or units, decides how much each pip of movement is worth to you.
A position stays open, earning or losing, until you close it. Traders talk about "taking a position", "adding to a position" and "squaring up", meaning closing everything to be flat.
