In plain English
Crude trader slang for "sell the rip": in a downtrend, treat every bounce as a chance to go short.
STFR is the bear-market cousin of BTFD. Spelled out with a swear word in the middle, it means "sell the rip": when a market is in a strong downtrend, every sharp bounce (a "rip") is seen as a gift to sell into, not a sign of recovery.
It reflects a real trend-following idea: in a downtrend, rallies tend to fail. Like any slogan, it stops working the moment the trend actually turns, and the person still selling every rip gets run over.
