In plain English

The broad approaches traders take, mostly defined by how long they hold trades: scalping, day trading, swing and position trading.

Trading styles are the different speeds and philosophies of trading. Scalpers hold for seconds to minutes. Day traders close everything before the day ends. Swing traders hold for days. Position traders hold for weeks or months.

No style is best. The right one fits your personality, schedule and patience. Someone with a full-time job will struggle to scalp; someone who checks the screen every 30 seconds will struggle to hold a trade for a month.
